Harper & Co. sought to revitalize a neglected urban park that had become an eyesore due to overgrown vegetation, outdated infrastructure, and lack of amenities.
Community Engagement: We began by engaging with local residents and stakeholders to understand their needs and desires for the park. Feedback from these sessions highlighted the need for improved accessibility, more recreational areas, and enhanced safety features. This input was crucial in shaping the design plan.
Design and Planning: Based on community feedback, we developed a comprehensive revitalization plan that included new walking paths, upgraded playgrounds, and the introduction of native plantings. The design also incorporated sustainable elements such as rain gardens, permeable pavements, and solar-powered lighting to reduce the park's environmental footprint.
Infrastructure Overhaul: We removed outdated and damaged structures, replacing them with modern amenities including new benches, lighting, and waste management stations. The paths were widened and resurfaced to improve accessibility for all visitors, including those with mobility challenges.
Landscaping and Greenery: The revitalization included extensive re-landscaping with drought-tolerant native plants and trees, which required less maintenance and water. We also created open lawns for recreational use, installed flower beds for visual interest, and added shaded areas with seating to encourage relaxation and social gatherings.
